Our method

How we verify

Every spec on this site points to a source you can open. When the evidence is weaker, we say so.

Where specs come from

We start with the maker's own documents: service manuals, setup and specification guides, and official product pages. A spec only earns a green label when one of those documents states it directly.

What the labels mean

Verified The value is stated in the manufacturer's document, and the source link goes to it.

Cross-checked A manufacturer document and at least one independent source agree.

Reported The value comes from owners or is still waiting for a manufacturer document. Treat it as a lead, not a guarantee.

How we decide that a part fits

We compare the laptop's recorded specs with the part's own specs: memory generation and size, how many modules and how much memory per module, SSD length and interface, and heatsink clearance. A part is marked Fits only when every check passes. A note such as “runs at 4800” or “remove heatsink” means it works with a caveat. Where we cannot tell, the part is marked Reported.

When we get it wrong

Every model page has a “Report a wrong spec” button. You can also write to contact@fitmylaptop.com. We check each report against the manual and update the page.

Prices and money

We do not show prices, because they change by the hour. Our buy buttons send you to the retailer for the current price. Some of those links are affiliate links; see our affiliate disclosure.
